I am writing to you to address the current discipline trends in the centers. The company has started the discipline process with drivers for not following the companies methods and procedures. The process is simple and there is only one way to fix this problem.
The company has methods that they would like us to follow when it comes to missing packages at a stop, misloads and more, but for this letter, I will specifically talk about missing pieces and misloads.
SCANNING PACKAGES IS A VERY HOT TOPIC RIGHT NOW AND EVERY PACKAGE MUST GET A SCAN IF IT’S ON YOUR CAR.
IF YOU ARE MISSING A PACKAGE OR PACKAGES FOR A STOP YOU MUST
- Recount the packages actually delivered vs. the number you scanned!
- If you missed a scan no big deal rescan packages until you find the package you missed.
- If you are still missing a package(s) - stop complete the stop and IMMEDIATELY send a message through the DIAD into the center with the address of the stop and the last 4 digits of the tracking number(s) that you are missing!
DO NOT HIT THE NOT FOUND BUTTON! DO NOT HIT THE NOT FOUND BUTTON!
SEND A MESSAGE INTO THE CENTER THROUGH THE DIAD BOARD WITH THE ADDRESS OF THE STOP AND LAST 4 OF THE TRACKING NUMBER(S) THAT YOU ARE MISSING.
Thats all you have to do to protect yourself when you are missing packages at a stop.
Why you ask ? The company will then start tracking these packages that you are MISSING . These packages that you are missing could be left in the building, at QC, or misloaded on another car, which will bring me to my next topic.
Can you believe that the company would purposely put a misload on your car? Can you believe that the company has issued discipline for delivering that misload without sending the information to them first? Well I am here to tell you that they have and continue to do so today!!
Try and get through your package cars and look for misloads by the time that they want them called in. If you can’t get through your car by that time please send a message in through the diad board that you need more time to get through the car. Pull over and go through your cars, touch every package and check the ADDRESS label, not the SPA label. If you find a misload please send that information through the diad communication screen - misload package. If you don’t know where this function is in your DIAD please ask someone. They will tell you what to do with the package. They will tell you either to meet another driver, deliver it, or sheet as missed. If they tell you to sheet ANY other way than MISSED, please bring it to my attention immediately.
I CAN’T STRESS THIS ENOUGH TO EVERYONE - YOU MUST SCAN EVERY PACKAGE ON THE STREET AT THE LOCATION OF THE
ADDRESS LABEL. THE COMPANY KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT COME BACK TO THE BUILDING WITH PACKAGES THAT HAVEN’T BEEN SCANNED WITH A PROPER DISPOSITION, UNLESS TOLD TO DO SO BY MANAGEMENT.
IF YOU ARE MISSING PACKAGES ON YOUR CAR OR HAVE MISLOADS YOU MUST COMMUNICATE THROUGH YOUR DIAD.
