Teamsters Local 623 stood strong and united on Friday, March 26 at a union rally outside the UPS facility on Oregon Avenue. Union members from our local and across the labor movement to show up and protest the unjust treatment of one of our union sisters and the unsafe conditions created by management in UPS facilities. State senators, city councilors and other allies showed up to tell the company that we will not back down.

The crowd chanted "Joe Gill Must Go!" repeatedly in reference to the division manager who left one of our Teamster sisters to sit for four hours with broken bones in her arm and wrist. The union had repeatedly requested that Gill be reassigned to a new work area so as to avoid another situation like this. Gill remains at UPS and the Company has done little to hold him or other management responsible for their reckless behavior.

Local 623 will continue to push to get justice for our members and to ensure a safe work environment for ALL Teamsters.

We would like to thank our sisters and brothers from the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division-IBT, AFSCME DC 33, Philaposh and many others in our union family who stood with us on Friday. We also would like to thank State Senator Nikil Saval, City Council-member Helen Gym, and Pennsylvania State Legislator Malcolm Kenyatta for showing up in support.
