A new market-rate adjustment (MRA) leaves behind Teamster brothers and sisters and pits union workers against each other. Local 623 will fight this tooth and nail. We have some "creative" ideas for what comes next if the Company continues to REFUSE to do the right thing.
UPS has repeatedly postponed a panel hearing on the split wage issue. The Union has prepared a case to ensure a fair resolution before the panel. Yet UPS management continues to avoid us.
Now they have slapped us in the face with a new MRA that only makes the issue worse. The following table lays out new starting rates for PHL UPS members.

Not only has UPS refused to address the existing wage gaps created by the $16.50 starting wage they previously introduced, but this new MRA also creates more and worse pay gaps between workers. Many members will be thrilled to finally receive a much-deserved raise but make no mistake this selective wage increase is designed to bust our union and sew division.
We cannot allow our members to be divided. We cannot allow UPS to tear up our Contract.
Some of our members with many years of seniority will continue to make less than the new starting wages outlined above. Other members hired at the exact same time to work the exact same position and shift will make significantly less only because they work in a different building. This is shameful.
UPS has struggled to keep new hires on the job because of their low-staring wages, the lack of full-time opportunities, and the constant management abuse. This wage raise is designed to attract and keep workers but by leaving out all of the Oregon Avenue members and by creating even more tiered wages for new hires, it is also designed to pit member-against-member, cause jealousy, and incite anger.
The union demands fairness. Respect the Contract. No To Split Wages. One Fair Wage.
