JULY 12, 2023 – Pennsylvania State Senators from the Philadelphia region have urged UPS management to return to the table to negotiate with the Teamsters.
The letter, which was signed by Senators Nikil Saval, Christine Tartaglione, Jimmy Dillon, Sharif Street, Art Haywood, and Vincent Hughes, urges UPS to offer a fair deal to workers. "Teamsters deserve a contract that provides them with family sustaining wages, ends forced overtime and corporate harassment, and increases full-time opportunities" said the Senators.
Teamsters have voted overwhelmingly to approve a strike if no agreements have been reached and the Senate delegation has now pledged their support: "Our delegation is unequivocally supportive of Teamsters Local 623 in Philadelphia and will stand in solidarity with the 97 percent of members that voted to strike if a deal is not reached by the end of month."
Teamsters Local 623 plans to host "Practice Pickets" and rallies tomorrow, July 13 at UPS Philadelphia locations on Oregon Avenue and at the Philadelphia Air Hub.
