TEAMSTERS DELIVER FIRST CORONAVIRUS VACCINES

Teamsters Local 623 members delivered the first Coronavirus vaccines in the Philadelphia area this morning. The first shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine were delivered this morning by Stephen Kudless a proud Local 623 driver. "It was a monumental opportunity and experience." said Kudless.

Don’t Rely on the Law:

In other countries, workers have greater say in the decisions companies make. Worker representatives may hold positions at the corporate board level. This is a result of strong labor laws and assertive union movements.

The US has long distinguished itself for having weak labor protections, by comparison. When laws like the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) were established in the early 20th century, the labor movement was probably the strongest it has ever been in this country.

James R. Hoffa Scholarship Fund: Applications Now Open

College and Vocational/Training Program Scholarships Available to the Sons and Daughters of Teamsters

The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund has begun accepting applications for the 2021 award year. The Fund awards financial scholarships to the sons, daughters and financial dependents of Teamster members.

Academic awards in the amount of $1,000 or $10,000 are awarded to eligible high school seniors. Vocational/Training program awards are available ranging from $500 to $2,000.

9.5 Grievances PAY

Members are continuing to win 9.5 grievances, and getting paid, when the Company violates our 9.5 rights. To date over $106,000.00 in penalty pay has been awarded for these grievances.

Jurisdictional Dispute Update

A hearing of the Executive Board of Joint Council 53 was held on November 12, 2020. Local 623 presented their case for jurisdiction.
