William J Cooke Memorial Scholarship

The William J. Cooke Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to the children and grandchildren of Local 623 members who have at least 12 months of consecutive membership in good standing. The application deadline is March 31.

Getting on the 9.5 List

Local 623 has given management the names of Package Car Drivers who want to be on the 9.5 list for the next five months. The new 9.5 list will take effect on January 15 and stay in effect through June 15. 

New Day in Local 623

Thank you to all the members for turning out to the General Membership Meeting. The Executive Board took the oath of office and members were sworn in as Teamsters.

Special thanks to Local 89 President Fred Zuckerman and IBT Vice President Bill Hamilton for standing in solidarity with us. 

Shop Steward Elections

All shop steward elections will be held the last week of January. Elections will begin on Monday, January 27. Steward elections for package drivers will start on Tuesday, January 28 so Tuesday-Saturday drivers can participate. By the end of that week all steward elections should be completed. 

Uniting for a Strong Union

The new Executive Board assumed office on January 1 and we have hit the ground running. We are looking forward to working with you to build a stronger union.

We are reaching out to stewards and members to tackle the backlog of unresolved grievances. We are asking all stewards and members to provide business agents with copies of filed grievances that are unresolved.
