Picket & Rally at UPS

For months UPS has denied the workers' demands for hazard pay or other incentive pay for those who have worked through the pandemic. The pandemic has been hard on workers who have had to work longer hours, move more packages, and make more delivery stops than before. As a result of their hard work and commitment –– even at the risk of their own health –– UPS stocks have soared and the company has posted over a billion dollars in profit for back-to-back quarters.

Now they have decided to skip these workers over for raises.

UPS is hiring new workers at the airport facility starting at $16.50/hour –– significantly higher than the normal rate of $14.50/hour. But more senior Teamsters and those at Oregon Avenue will see no raise in their pay. Splitting the wage rate across facilities, and introducing a new rate that is higher than what many more senior workers make, is poison for solidarity. It pits new workers against old while the Company laughs all the way to the bank.

UPS Teamsters are demanding that the Company raise ALL WAGES to at least $16.50. As one of the largest pandemic profiteers in the world Big Brown can afford to pay equal wages for equal work.

We will be holding rallies at UPS facilities three times next week.
