James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship
James R. Hoffa became a Teamster member in 1934 and served as General President for 14 years, and, in recognition of his tireless service to the union and its members, was honored as General President Emeritus for life. To learn about eligibility requirements and to apply please click here.
The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund is an independent organization established and registered as a tax-exempt entity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Fund is established solely to provide scholarships to the child or dependent of a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and contributions to the Fund are deductible as charitable contributions to the extent permitted by law.

William J. Cooke Scholarship
In October of 2004, the Executive Board approved the establishment of the William J Cooke Memorial Scholarship Fund in recognition of Bill Cooke’s tireless efforts to improve the working conditions of his fellow brothers and sisters. Bill “Cooke” was a Teamster member for 31 years. For more than half of his career, Cooke served as an elected Union officer.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and personal qualifications as determined by the Selection Committee. All applicants will be considered without regard to race, religion, gender, disability, or any other legally protected status. All awards will be sent directly to the college or school of which award winners are enrolled and credited to their account for payment of authorized expenses (tuition, room & board, books).
